IAB Tier 1 Content Classification API

What it does

IAB Category Classifier predicts Tier 1 IAB categories for web content. Send a URL, text, title, domain, or keywords, and get back a tier label plus a ranked list of category predictions with scores.

Use it when you need to classify articles, landing pages, or publisher inventory into a standard advertising taxonomy. The top_k field lets you control how many predictions you want returned, from 1 to 20, so you can keep the output focused on the best matches or inspect a broader set of candidates.

The response is simple to integrate: tier tells you the tier being predicted, and predictions is an array of { label, score } objects. That makes it easy to route content, power ad targeting rules, organise analytics, or add taxonomy labels during ingestion without building your own classifier.

IAB Category Classifier is a good fit for content pipelines that need fast, repeatable category assignment from lightweight metadata or full page text.
