Analyze Backlinks API

What it does

The Backlinks API returns the backlink profile of any domain, host, or URL as JSON or XML. Send a target and a mode (domain, host, or url) and get backlink counts, referring domains, anchor texts, referring IPs and subnets, and page and domain authority scores.

Its 44 endpoints cover the profile from different angles. List individual backlinks with url_from, url_to, anchor, nofollow status, and first-seen dates, filtered by authority, anchor, or URL. Track new and lost backlinks and referring domains by day with date_from and date_to, and read cumulative backlink and authority history. Many endpoints accept a POST body with several targets, so one backlink API call can check a batch. Raw backlinks page through results with a next cursor, up to 100,000 rows per call, and large exports run as tasks that return a .csv.gz file.

Use this Backlinks API to build a backlink checker into an SEO tool, monitor lost links for clients, audit anchor text distribution, or compare link profiles across competitors. Link-building teams use referring domain lists to find outreach targets.
