What it does
The HEIC to JPG API converts HEIC and HEIF images, the default photo format on iPhones, into JPG or PNG. Upload the file as image with the multipart endpoints (up to 100 MB), or send a public url and let the API fetch it. Get the result back as a binary download from /download, or as a signed URL in the data field from /link.
Output is JPG by default. To get a PNG, set the output query parameter to a filename ending in .png, such as photo.png. The same parameter sets the name of the returned file. Signed links expire after 15 minutes, so download or store the image if you need it longer.
Use the HEIC to JPG API to accept iPhone photos in upload forms, normalize images in a CMS or asset pipeline, show HEIC uploads in browsers that can't display them, or convert HEIF files to PNG for design tools. It handles HEIC to JPG and HEIC to PNG conversion on the server, so you can skip native image libraries in your stack.
Shrink the converted photos with the Image Compression API, turn them into web-ready files with the JPEG to WebP API, or combine them into a document with the Image to PDF API.
